Onychomycoses are common…

and make up 15-40% of nails and affect both fingernails and toenails.

There are five types: Peripheral onychomycosis, superficial white onychomycosis, proximal subungual onychomycosis, total and intraungual onychomycosis.

• Fungus on the hands and feet (interdigital folds)
• Scalp fungi
• Fungi on the skin (dermatophytes, dandruff)
• Nail fungus
• Fungi on the genitals (refer to Sexually Transmitted Diseases)

Onychomycosis is a chronic and quite difficult disease to treat.

The appropriate drug is chosen by the dermatologist based on the type of onychomycosis as well as its spectrum of action and the results of the culture if it has been carried out.
