Examination & Dermatoscopy of Nevi <\/a><\/h3>\n

During the clinical examination of the patient the dermatologist will evaluate a set of parameters concerning the colour, texture, infiltration of the nevi<\/strong> and other evidence present on the skin.<\/p>\n

The daily habits, profession, hobbies, genetic predisposition, are revealed to the dermatologist’s eyes through the traces they leave on the skin<\/strong> and enable the assessment of the patient and the prevention and treatment of any issue.<\/strong><\/p>\n

Dermoscopy is a non-invasive diagnostic method of examining<\/strong> the skin. It is performed with the dermatoscope, a medical instrument which uses special lighting and magnification to reveal colour structures, patterns not visible to the naked eye.<\/strong><\/p>\n

This method is suitable for the examination of nevi and many pigmented lesions of the skin.<\/strong> It also enables the doctor to diagnose melanoma and many other conditions with great accuracy. During the examination, both the general dermoscopic structure and localized dermatoscopic features are assessed.<\/strong><\/p>\n

The use of dermoscopy now extends beyond diagnosis, to treatment selection and patient follow-up.<\/strong><\/p><\/blockquote>\n

Nevus Mapping <\/a><\/h3>\n

Nevus mapping is the technique by which all nevi on the body are monitored and photographed both macroscopically and microscopically.<\/strong><\/p>\n

They are then processed and stored<\/strong> based on a software that will allow us in the future to see any change<\/strong> in the mapped nevi.<\/p>\n

Full-body Screening is useful in patients who are at high risk of developing melanoma<\/strong>, that is, patients with multiple nevi and a personal or family history of melanoma. Full-body Screening allows detection of small changes and new lesions<\/strong> during the re-examination of the high-risk patient that were not be identified in the initial examination.<\/p>\n

Together with mapping, for certain patients a complete monitoring\/prevention method is recommended for the early diagnosis of melanoma.<\/strong><\/p><\/blockquote>\n

Self-examination <\/a><\/h3>\n

All individuals should self-examine and note any changes<\/strong> in nevi and report to their dermatologist.<\/p>\n

Particularly people with fair complexions and many nevi, people with a family history of skin cancer, people who have suffered a lot of sunburn, people who have used a solarium should not only self-examine but also be checked by their dermatologist every six months.<\/strong><\/p>\n
